Saratoga Springs, New York is known as “the Queen of the Spas.” It’s rich heritage as a health resort and vacation center began in the 19th century and continues today. Filled with hundreds of pristine Victorian homes, this vibrant city of 26,000 was named one of the ten best places to live in New York by Movoto.
The heart of soul of Saratoga Springs is defined by horse racing. Home to one of North America’s finest race tracks, the Saratoga Race Course runs for six weeks from July through Labor Day. Remarkably for a city this size, Saratoga Springs is home to a second race track, the Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
Parks and Recreation
Saratoga Spa State Park may be the preeminent urban state park in New York. Distinguished by its classical architecture and listed as a National Historic Landmark, it is noted for its diverse cultural, aesthetic and recreational resources. In addition to the nationally-known Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Spa Little Theater, the National Museum of Dance, the Saratoga Automobile Museum, the Gideon Putnam Resort and Roosevelt Baths and Spa, the park offers a multitude of traditional recreation opportunities.
Nestled in the heart of downtown Saratoga Springs is Congress Park. The park includes a traditional Carousel for children and the Historic Canfield Casino.
Founded more than a century ago and located in Saratoga Springs, New York, on a beautiful 890-acre campus, Skidmore College is a highly regarded liberal arts college known for its creative approaches to just about everything. The college’s core belief: creative thought matters
The public school system is one of the best in the state. With six elementary locations, Saratoga Springs is all about being a ‘neighborhood school’. Private elementary and secondary schools include the Waldorf School, the Saratoga Independent School and St Clements Catholic School.
Dining and Shopping
Downtown Saratoga Springs has an eclectic mix of national brands and locally owned stores, along with a wide variety of restaurants, ranging from fine dining to brew pubs. The Beekman Street Arts District is home to many fine art galleries and eateries.
Saratoga Springs boasts a vibrant cultural scene, with musical venues for all tastes, whether it be latest in popular music, jazz or americana. Located on the campus of Skidmore College is the Tang Museum, a teaching museum devoted to contemporary art. The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame sits across the street from the Saratoga Race Course.
